One Direction – Little Things

Saat One Direction mengerjakan “Take Me Home”, mereka sangat bersemangat menyebarkan berita kalau dalam album ini mereka kembali bekerjasama dengan Ed Sheeran. Makanya, ketika ada kesempatan untuk merilis single kedua, dipilihlah ‘Little Things‘ yang ditulis Ed bareng Fiona Bevan. Warna yang menghiasi album ini so pasti yang tulus dan sederhana seperti lagu-lagu akustik Ed. Perilisan ini memberikan kesempatan buat kelima cowok asal UK ini untuk sejenak melepaskan corak musik pop rock dalam rilisan single mereka, dan membiarkan pendengar disuguhi dengan vokal yang lebih terasa dalam nyanyian mereka.

Yup, nyanyian mereka. Itulah yang sejatinya sajian utama di single ini. Begitu murni terdengar, karena musik tidak menenggelamkan vokal. Durasi lagu 3 menit 37 detik hanya memperdengarkan instrumen gitar akustik yang dimainkan sebagai musik latarnya. Fans pasti senang menemukan lagu demikian dalam diskografi single boyband favorit mereka, sementara haters harus mencari alasan lain karena mereka sudah dipertemukan dengan jalan buntu untuk mengusik 1D dari sudut pandang musik.

Begitu ngena untuk sebuah lagu cinta. Kurangi gombalannya, fokuskan pada detilnya. ‘Little Things’ adalah deskripsi alasan-alasan yang kadang terlupakan karena dianggap tidak penting tentang bagaimana cinta itu bisa datang, tumbuh, dan berkembang. Kesan tulus dan sederhana terus mengucur dalam konsep yang dipahat dalam video musik untuk single ini. Kelima personel 1D beraada dalam studio, tiga di antaranya memainkan gitar. Semuanya bernyanyi bergantian untuk verse dan bridge, berpadu vokal di bagian chorus. Pleasant.
