Pernahkah berfikir bagaimana Owl City dan Carly Rae Jepsen
bisa tampil dalam sebuah lagu? Paling tidak mereka punya kesamaan
dengan sama-sama ada di label Universal. Kesamaan lainnya adalah
masing-masing pernah menguasai tangga lagu di Amerika Serikat dengan hit
yang juga membuat mereka menjadi pesohor di seluruh dunia. Dengan
kekuatan itu, hadirlah ‘Good Time‘ sebagai single
andalan dari album “The Midsummer Station” milik Owl City. Lagu yang
ditulis oleh Adam Young bersama Matt Thiessen, dan Brian Lee ini dirilis
pada 26 Juni yang lalu yang mulai menguasai pasar penjualan single
digital dan juga stasiun radio. Mengapa bisa demikian? Karena lagunya
memang membuat kita mendapatkan apa yang persis tertera di judulnya, good time.
Masih lekat di ingatan bagaimana Owl
City sangat jago mengolah bebunyian-bebunyian cute dalam
single-single-nya terdahulu. Sedangkan untuk yang satu ini, ia
mengadakan asimilasi dengan ciri poprock Carly untuk menghasilkan sound
yang tetap mengakar para elemen masing-masing. Saya mengagumi kelembutan
vokal Owl City yang muncul di verse pertama, kemudian berubah menjadi
setingkat lebih menghentak di bagian bridge untuk mengimbangi lagu yang
hendak mencapai klimaks. Jempol untuk itu!

Sulit dipercaya sih lirik lagunya yang
kelewat positif. Enggak harus susah payah, setiap saat adalah waktu yang
tepat. Mereka seperti mengembangkan ide “always look at the bright
side” menjadi “it’s always a good time”. Tapi saya percaya kog, meskipun
enggak bisa diterapkan setiap saat dalam keseharian, kalau kita
mendengarkan lagunya dalam keadaan apapun, pasti berubah menjadi good
time.
