It’s time to get some music make over. Taylor Swift sudah cukup menghasilkan tiga buah album dalam gubahan musik yang terstandarisasi sebagai citra musik pop country khasnya. Maka di album keempatnya ia berniat untuk lebih mengeksplorasi musiknya. Mendandaninya sedemikian rupa dengan pengaruh elektropop seperti terdengar dalam ‘I Knew You Were Trouble‘ ini. Taylor terdengar fresh dan fun dengan gaya musiknya yang baru. Mungkin ia mendengarkan pendapat orang yang menyebut musiknya begitu-begitu saja, sehingga memutuskan untuk membuat evolusi.

Yang paling terasa adalah beat. Now she has that bangging beat! Unsur suara yang memberikan efek menghentak bagi para pendengarnya. Mostly berkat gebukan drum. Namun karena ini melibatkan elektropop, disanalah peran besarnya tergantung. Taylor menemukan kenyamanan bekerjasama dengan Max Martin dan Shellback, yang telah mengantarkannya pada puncak sukses lebih tinggi lewat ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’. Single ini juga masih dipercayakan pada tim produser/pencipta lagu tersebut untuk diramu. Sementara untuk urusan vokal, Taylor kini lebih luwes. Di bagian verse ia masih seperti biasa, melahap lirik dengan cepat menunjukkan kelebihannya memiliki nafas yang panjang. Di bagian chorus lah permainan vokalnya yang berdinamika dengan falsetto yang terasa fresh!

Evolusi lainnya yang Taylor punya adalah penampilan. Talking about taking up a notch. She’s a bad girl now. Lihat saja musik video untuk single ini yang menampilkan Taylor dalam karakter yang menuntutnya untuk tampil lebih jalang dari biasa. Beradu akting dengan aktor Reeve Carney. Banyak yang membandingkannya dengan video ‘We Found Love’ milik Rihanna. Pasti karena faktor “trouble” yang ditampilkan. Dan itu juga faktor hiburan yang cukup menyenangkan.
